You guys rock! I am a Systems Administrator at a small clinic here in my home town. I have about 60 users and the network and the client machines are a huge mass of confusion and chaos. With GFI LANguard Network Security Scanner my job has been infinitely more productive. I now have an accurate IP map of my network and exactly what OS is on each machine and the status of that OS. Besides, the deploy patches feature is out of this world! If ever you're forced to keep one feature, please let it be this! I wanted to let you know how the bake-off between the GFI LANguard N.S.S. product and a competitor's scanner product turned out. Our test was based on a scale of one to five, five being the best and included tests against a system with known and validated vulnerabilities. Part of testing included (but was not limited to) functionality and usability, detail of vulnerabilities discovered, list of remediation/resolution recommendations of the discovered issues, audit reporting in both an "executive and technical format", and last but not least cost of product against all of the above. Tests results were then blind tested against open source tools such as Nessus and then confirmed. Nearly half of all the discovered vulnerabilities, including a critical discovery of the SNMP "public" community string left as "Read/Write" on a core system facing the Public Internet were discovered by GFI LANguard N.S.S. and NOT by the other product. This alone made the decision to go with GFI LANguard N.S.S. a no-brainer. On a final score, GFI LANguard N.S.S. was a clean 4, where your competitor's scanner was at the most a 2.

I would like to say that your product is beautiful. I am an avid Linux user and network admin and have not found anything as useful as this for a Windows platform. The Linux platform uses NMAP as a port scanner and whois for a look up, along with several other apps. However, this program has it all integrated into one. Very useful and easy to understand.

I love it! The installation went without a hitch. Within 30 minutes I had a complete missing patch report on 25 critical servers and discovered one server missing several critical patches. In just a few more minutes all the missing patches were applied. EASY! The interface is much more intuitive than competing products and performance is also pretty good. Kudos to GFI for yet another great product!

I am a corporate trainer delivering in several different situations, college and business, and need numerous 'tools' to illustrate good security practices to my students and to give them insight into what is available on the market. My students use a number of GFI products in their Security+ class. They use GFI LANguard N.S.S. to scan other computers, then tell each other the security holes that they found. They use it both as an administrative tool but also to see how an attacker could use tools to find and exploit holes in a running server. My company is in the process of designing a patch management solution for the many patches that are needed. We defined some severity levels and realized we needed a product for our "critical" severity level. This requires the identification and remediation of our servers/workstations. Following a Denial of Service Attack on my Windows 2000 Server, I was looking for a product that could show me the vulnerabilities of my OS, and how to correct them. As I'm not a network administrator, I found such software too complex to understand. A friend of mine advised me to use your excellent software, and it has helped me a great deal. This is jam packed with great bonus features of scanning Microsoft platforms for security settings (like auditing), missing service packs and patches, shares, local groups & user, and on and on. The Age (May 2004) reported that a prestigious Australian private school purchased GFI software to secure its systems. Canberra's Marist College had to reinforce its computer systems to stop hundreds of its own students hacking into the system. At one stage the school recorded up to 200 virus attacks within an hour. One such security breach made the school rethink its entire security set-up. The school needed to know at once if someone might be accidentally introducing a virus, not a long time after, when the virus would have already done the damage. Marist College decided to use GFI software to improve the system so such breaches would not occur again. The products used include: GFI LANguard Security Event Log Monitor, GFI LANguard Network Security Scanner, GFI Network Server Monitor, and GFI MailEssentials. As a result, the school can now monitor who is doing what on the system, and can immediately contact them about it.
