New version builds further on proven technology
Rochester (NY), 13th May 1998 - GFI, leading developer of fax server and e-mail management software, today released the new version of FAXmaker for Exchange, the fax server for Microsoft Exchange Server. Apart from including support for Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, version 5.5 includes a new fax server that offers support for ISDN cards and Brooktrout fax boards, improved modem support and line routing. FAXmaker for Exchange 5.5 is fully year 2000 compliant.
Accredited by Microsoft, FAXmaker for Exchange adds itself seamlessly to Exchange Server, enabling users to send and receive faxes straight from the Exchange client and Outlook just as if it were e-mail. Nick Galea, president of GFI, says: "FAXmaker was one of the first fax connectors for Microsoft Exchange Server. This new version builds further on our proven technology which has already been the preferred choice of thousands of companies." Jeff Koch, Marketing Manager for Microsoft's Developer Relations Group, says: "GFI has a long history in supporting Microsoft Exchange Server and we consider FAXmaker for Exchange to be an important add-on for our BackOffice suite".
ISDN and Brooktrout support FAXmaker for Exchange 5.5 includes new drivers for the ISDN cards EICON DIVA Pro, EICON DIVA Server Bri and AVM B1 and offers new support for all TR114 Brooktrout fax boards. "ISDN is becoming increasingly important worldwide, and we are pleased to be able to meet this new demand for ISDN fax servers", says Nick Galea. "We are also delighted that FAXmaker now offers support for the high quality Brooktrout fax boards".
The new Fax Broadcast wizard, included in version 5.5, is specifically designed to enable users to send out advanced, scheduled fax mailings, using any ODBC database. The wizard guides the user through a series of screens after which the mailing is automatically faxed out. Another new feature of FAXmaker is line routing. With this new routing method, companies can assign fax numbers to certain departments or users. Before, this was only possible with DID which required companies to purchase DID numbers from their Telecommunications company. Free two user versions of FAXmaker for Exchange are available for download from: http://www.gfi.com.
